Verification Organizations Vietnam | TUV, Bureau Veritas, SGS Accredited

Learn about internationally accredited verification organizations in Vietnam including TUV SUD, Bureau Veritas, and SGS for carbon credit projects.

Does Vietnam have any verification organizations recognized according to international standards yet?

There are several internationally accredited verification bodies active in Vietnam, although they are primarily branches or subsidiaries of global organizations.

A verification organization, formally known as a Validation and Verification Body (VVB), must be accredited by international carbon credit programs like Verra (for the Verified Carbon Standard - VCS) or the Gold Standard Foundation (for GS) to be eligible to audit projects under their standards.

In Vietnam, several reputable international VVBs have established offices and expert teams. Key players include:

TÜV SÜD (Germany)94

TÜV SÜD's Vietnamese subsidiary provides validation, verification, and certification services for climate change projects. Their experts are accredited to audit projects against leading standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard (GS), and others.

Bureau Veritas (BV - France)95

Bureau Veritas offers certification services that enable companies to demonstrate compliance with standards like The Gold Standard, which is a critical step for issuing and trading carbon credits. Their presence in Vietnam supports local project developers in navigating this process.

SGS (Switzerland)96

As a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, SGS has a significant presence in major Vietnamese cities. SGS provides a wide range of sustainability services, including the verification of greenhouse gas emissions. As of May 2025, SGS is officially accredited by Verra as a Validation and Verification Body (VVB) for the VCS program, further strengthening the verification infrastructure available to projects in Vietnam.

The presence of these globally recognized VVBs is crucial for Vietnamese enterprises aiming to participate in the international voluntary carbon market, as it provides them with local access to the necessary expertise for project validation and credit verification.
